Looking for an edge in an ever more competitive landscape?

If you optimize the the 5 P’s of Marketing—Product, Price, Promotion, Place, and People as an Amazon sellers, you can better differentiate your products, create strong customer relationships, and remain profitable despite constant market shifts and intense competition.

  • Customer Focus: Understand your audience’s needs (pain points, preferences) and continually refine your offering.

2. Price

  • Market Research: Conduct competitor analysis and factor in fulfillment/shipping costs to set profitable yet appealing prices.

  • ROI Tracking: Monitor ad spend and conversion rates to understand the effectiveness of promotions and identify areas for improvement.

4. Place

  • Channel Strategy: Choose the best distribution channels (Amazon FBA, TikTok Shop, or your own Shopify store) for easy accessibility.

  • SEO & Visibility: Optimize listings with relevant keywords, high ratings, and strategic category placement to boost discoverability.

  • Customer Convenience: Offer multiple delivery options and maintain sufficient stock levels for fast shipping.

5. People

🌎 SEA FREIGHT RATES COME DOWN

Shipping costs continue to trend downward from pandemic highs, which could help Amazon sellers reduce expenses on imported inventory. Drewry’s World Container Index (WCI) is now at $2,541 per 40-foot container—down 76% from its 2021 peak, though still 79% above the 2019 average.

Rates on key routes, like Shanghai to Los Angeles and Shanghai to New York, dropped 9% and 6%, respectively, in the latest week. Thanks to increased shipping capacity, Drewry expects further rate decreases in the near term.

🗑️  TURN AMAZON TRASH to CASH

Here are four good options you can look into if you need to liquidate dead product stock:

🧰 HOW to USE GUMMYSEARCH as an AMAZON SELLER

  • Finding your audience and getting inside their head is becoming more and more critical for success in e-commerce as competition becomes fiercer and fiercer.

GummySearch is one of the best ways to do that using Reddit data:

  • Product Research: Identify pain points, trends, and wish-list features from real Reddit discussions to guide new product ideas or improvements.

  • Listing Optimization: Gather the exact language customers use and address their objections in your Amazon titles, bullet points, and descriptions.

  • Competitor Insights: Search competitor names to spot common complaints or pricing feedback, then differentiate your offerings.

  • Marketing Strategy: Discover subreddits where your audience hangs out, refine your content approach, and uncover engagement opportunities (while following subreddit rules).

  • Ongoing Feedback Loop: Monitor brand mentions and user sentiment for continuous product updates, better FAQs, and higher customer satisfaction.

📺 HOLY COW - YOU GOTTA SEE THIS AI & SEO STUFF!

SEO and AI guru Daniel Kurtz was blowing minds on last weekend’s AI for E-commerce all day workshop hosted by Kevin King and Amy Wees. All of the techniques he showed were ridiculously good, even by Kevin & Amy’s high standards.

You can still watch the full 6-hour replay, and now you can also watch his podcast episode with the Marketing Misfits (Norm & Kevin) that will blow some minds again with totally different strategies.

He also mentioned he is thinking about coming to hang out in Iceland at BDSS and/or Elevate 360 too. You never know who you may meet in Iceland that changes your live.

😱 INDONESIA RAPIDLY BECOMING SOURCING HOT BED

Yulia Bilnova of Zignify Global Product Sourcing recently shared on the Helium 10 Elite a great website for sourcing in Indonesia, which she says is becoming a hot destination for sellers looking to source outside of India. China and Vietnam.

She says you can even get a sourcing assistant on the site to help you find the right product on Indonesia’s 9,000+ islands. The English translation calls it an Office Boy/Girl.

📛   CUT FBA RECEIVING TIMES up to 83%

Scott Needham of SmartScount recently had a conversation with Kayvon of ZonPrep, in which Kayvon showed how one Amazon seller cut FBA receiving times from 24 days down to just 4.

The secret lies in understanding two ways inventory arrives at Amazon fulfillment centers (FCs):

  1. Drop Trailers: Trucks park full trailers at the FC, and Amazon unloads them when they can. This often leads to long wait times—trailers might sit idle for days or weeks in the parking lot before getting touched.

  2. Live Unloads: Trucks arrive with a scheduled appointment, and product is immediately brought into the FC. Although it can be challenging to secure the ideal appointment slot, once set, the inventory goes live much faster.

If your 3PL or logistics team currently uses drop trailers, consider investigating live unloads. It can be a major advantage—especially during peak seasons:

  • Reduced Lead Time: Live Unloads helped one seller shrink receiving times from 24 days to 4.

  • Lower Stockout Risk: Faster receiving means fewer inventory gaps, especially crucial during high-volume periods like Q4.

  • Better Cash Flow: Quicker product availability helps you recoup costs and meet customer demand more efficiently.
