[ BDSN ] šØš³ Secret of success for big Amazon Chinese Sellers

š§° WHICH is BETTER: HELIUM 10 or JUNGLE SCOUT?
While there are a variety of Amazon keyword research tools, thereās no doubt Jungle Scout and Helium 10 are the market leaders in the English-speaking seller world.
Every year since 2016, it seems Jungle Scout and Helium 10 duke it out for which tool is the best, with each company posting an in-depth blog post with examples and screen shots of why one tool is better than the other.
Both Jungle Scout and Helium 10 were originally launched about nine years by sellers who felt the tools of the time were way off in their estimates (and most were).
Popular keyword tools in 2015 included Merchant Words, AMZ Tracker, Manage By Stats and Sonar, among others. Viral Launch and Seller Tools gave it their best shot, but ultimately did not fair as well.
There were even some shady characters providing keyword research tools too at the time.
One was brought by a large Chinese company so they could use the client data in the software tool to spy on their competition, and see what they should launch next.
The owner of another keyword tool āback in the dayā used a backdoor when you connected your account to see if you messed up your promotional code settings during a product launch.
If you did, he would buy out your inventory at a 99-100% discount with those codes then re-sell the items.
Plus, in 2017 and 2018 there was a huge business of selling insider information on keywords and PPC data. Big sellers tried to get an edge by buying on the black market insider Amazon reports smuggled by Amazon workers.
The data came mostly from Amazon employees in China and India. Sellers could buy ārealā Amazon keyword, search volume, conversion and PPC data for several hundred dollars per ASIN or keyword from secret brokers.
This data is now all provided free by Amazon in SQP reports, Brand Analytics, and more.
Today Amazon provided a lot more data than ever before, mostly because it has the U.S. government breathing down its back. Tools like AMZ Scout and Data Dive have emerged to fill the gaps Helium 10 and Jungle Scout donāt focus as much on.
Greg Mercer founded Jungle Scout, and Manny Coats and Guillermo Puyol launched Helium 10. They were 7-figure sellers who started selling about 10 years ago. They built the tools they actually needed for their businesses, then shared them with the seller community.
They quickly realized they had a software rocket ship on their hands and a goldmine. Their focus quickly went from selling physical products to SAAS, leading each to over 1,000,000 Chrome extension installs.
Venture Capital came calling, and in September 2019 the Helium 10 founders exited for a large undisclosed sum of money, and in 2021 Jungle Scout raised $110 million in growth capital that also rewarded some of the early team handsomely.
Both are still doing well today.
But back to the original question ā Which tool is better?
Keeping it non-technical, any good statistician or data scientist will tell you the data a company decides to show, the methodology and the angle you take and a number of other factors can skew the results to whatever light you want to shine.
My personal keyword tool of choice is Helium 10.

š STATS YOU SHOULD KNOW
šØš³ SECRET of SUCCESS for BIG CHINESE SELLERS
While Helium 10 and Jungle Scout are the dominate keyword and research tools most Western-based sellers use, they are not as popular in Asia. In the Asia regions, more than 1.1 million sellers have installed Seller Sprite and often prefer it due to its native Chinese and Japanese work flows.
Nearly half of the top Amazon sellers in the US marketplace are from China, dominating the platform due to several key factors:
Supply Chain Mastery: Chinese sellers have direct access to local manufacturers, allowing lower costs and better control over product quality and customization.
Rapid Product Development: Their proximity to manufacturing hubs lets them quickly develop and launch products, adapting swiftly to market trends.
Data-Driven Decision Making: They extensively use SellerSprite in Chinese, a popular tool in Asia, for market research, keyword analysis, and competitor tracking, enhancing their competitive edge.
Refined Operations and Brand Awareness: Chinese sellers focus on precise customer targeting, strong branding, and excellent after-sales service, such as offering replacements over repairs.
Aggressive Marketing Strategies: Heavy investment in Amazon PPC campaigns, social media promotions, and frequent discounts help them gain visibility and boost sales quickly.
ā AMAZON COUPONS are NOW NON-STACKABLE
As Isaac Gross recently pointed out on Linkedin, Amazon now lets you make coupons non-stackable!
Many sellers have their inventory wiped out by shoppers stacking coupons with promotions to get the cost really low or next to zero.
This is a great step from Amazon to help prevent this.
Note: deals are still stackable: this is just for coupon stacking with percentage off promotions.

šµ BRANDS OFTEN OVERLOOK this S & S TACTIC
Liran Hirschkorn of Incrementum Digital says offering a special coupon for the first Subscribe & Save purchase on Amazon is a powerful tactic that many brands overlook.
Hereās why itās effective:
Incentivizes Repeat Purchases: The discount encourages customers to commit to repeat orders after trying the product once.
Boosts Key Metrics: It can quickly improve your ānew-to-brand first order Subscribe & Saveā metric.
Cost-Effective: Future orders via Subscribe & Save donāt require additional ad spend.
Reduces Competitor Distraction: Customers are less likely to be drawn to competitors when reordering.
To maximize the impact:
Track Customer Lifetime Value (CLV) to know how much you can invest in acquiring customers.
Test different discount levels to determine what works best.
Use monitoring tools like Incrementum Digitalās DataOwl to track retention and performance.
Securing a Subscribe & Save customer means gaining a customer already set up for repeat purchases, which is crucial for long-term growth.
š„³ 5 KEY FACTORS to START-UP SUCCESS
While there is no simple way to say which factors affect the success of a startup, effective research by Bill Gross, founder of Idealab summarizes it best.
If you don't know Bill Gross, he was pretty much the guy who invented the click-based business model, which became the foundation of Google (Google's founders added a few critical engineering tweaks to it).
For Bill Gross, the five key factors influencing a startup's success are the idea, team, business model, funding and finally timing being most critical (42%).
šŗ YOUTUBE EXPANDS SPOTIFY PARTNERSHIP
YouTube has announced an expansion of its partnership with Shopify, allowing eligible Shopify Plus and Advanced merchants in the U.S. to join the YouTube Shopping affiliate program.
This initiative enables merchants to collaborate with thousands of creators who can showcase their products in videos, thereby enhancing the shopping experience on YouTube.
Merchants can manage their participation through the Google & YouTube app on Shopify, accessing analytics and content management tools via Google Merchant Center.
Additionally, a new Chrome extension is being introduced for U.S. creators in the affiliate program. This tool allows creators to save products while browsing and easily tag them in their YouTube videos, with the added benefit of viewing potential earnings from these tags.
š± IDEAL SOCIAL MEDIA POSTING FREQUENCY
Neil Patel says marketers often believe that increasing the number of posts on social media will automatically boost their exposure.
However, the reality can be quite different.
In a study his team did of 332,490 social media accounts over a 30-day period, they discovered the optimal posting frequency for each platform.
Surprisingly, on some networks, posting too frequently actually reduced reachāespecially on Instagram and YouTube.
Hereās what they found to be the ideal posting frequency for each major platform:
Additionally, they observed that low engagement can hurt your future visibility.
Thatās why itās crucial to ensure every piece of content you share is high-quality and aligned with your audienceās expectations.
Donāt let mediocre posts sabotage your social media performance.
