🔊 HOW to USE SOUND to SELL MORE on AMAZON

Did you know customers are willing to pay more for products as long as they get to hear what they SOUND like first?

In a famous study, in-store music increased French wine sales by 330%.

On days when French music was played in-store, French wine outsold German wine, and vice versa on days when German music was played.

On average, 40 bottles of French wine were bought when French music was played, compared to just 12 bottles of German wine.

Conversely, when German music was played, 22 bottles of German wine were bought, versus 8 bottles of French wine.

Here’s another example of the power of sound:

The Swiss cough-drop maker Ricola faced a major problem as it tried to expand internationally.

Almost nobody in America knew the brand existed.

Halls and Vicks dominated the market, accounting for ~67% of all US cough-drop sales in 1987.

Ricola, which entered the US in the mid-1980s after decades of crafting herb-based lozenges in the Alps, was a non-player.

So Ricola brought in a yodeler. And an alphorn player.

And in a famous 1994 commercial, they stood in the shadow of the Matterhorn and belted out a sound that echoed through the mountains.

RI-CO-LAAAAA!

Soon, the brand’s jingle, or what’s called a sonic logo, was everywhere.

Coca-Cola launched the images above with the tagline: "Try not to hear this"

"The images create the effect of synesthesia: When two senses cross in the brain at once - sight and sound."

Here are examples of how to do it for your e-commerce products:

🔭 YOU GOTTA SEE THIS - THE AMAZON SHARK TANK

The first three episodes of spin on Shark Tank is coming to Amazon Prime on October 30. Thirteen episodes will air through January 8 along with a weekly behind-the-scenes companion podcast called “This is a Small B business: Behind the Buy.”

Entrepreneurs get 90 seconds to pitch their product to an audience of potential customers called The 100. If The 100 like the product and price, then the entrepreneurs go to a panel of Amazon executives and celebrity entrepreneurs (a rotating panel including Gwyneth Paltrow, Anthony Anderson, Tabitha Brown, Tony Hawk, and Christian Siriano).

The panel selects which products will join Amazon’s exclusive new Buy-It-Now Store: a new storefront launching alongside the show that viewers can reach using a QR code that shows up during episodes.

In addition to featured placement on Amazon, each episode will also award one entrepreneur $20,000.

In a separate non-related event, hundreds of brands and alumni from the original Shark Tank series will be gathering Oct 12-15 at an event called ST/Reunion in Tampa, Florida to network and learn how to grow their businesses.

🌎 STUFF YOU SHOULD KNOW

🔎  HOW to run DYNAMIC KEYWORDS on GOOGLE ADs

Dynamic keyword insertion (DKI) is a Google Ads feature that allows you to automatically tailor your Google to Amazon ads text to match users' search queries.

It’s a powerful tool.

DKIs allow you to customize Search ads for each customer, which improves click-through rate and ad relevance—two integral parts of Quality Score and Ad Rank.

How they work:

DKIs let you insert a code in your ad text that automatically updates the ad to include one of the target keywords that triggered your ad.

Here’s how to set them up:

  • When creating your ad text, use the {Keyword:DefaultText} syntax.

  • "Keyword" tells Google Ads to insert the user’s search term.

  • "DefaultText" is what will show if the search term is too long or if it doesn’t match your keywords directly.

Yep, it’s that simple!
