Welcome Steve Simonson to the Billion Dollar Dream 100
Every Thursday I announce a new member of the Billion Dollar Dream 100. These are the people you should follow and get to know in our industry. They are announced in no particular order.
Steve Simonson is todayās inductee into the Billion Dollar Dream 100.
For a guy who says he doesnāt know nuttinā about nothinā, Steve Simonson knows a lot. There aināt nothing that will stop him, not even stage 4 cancer (he kicked its ass a few years ago). He is the oldest of 8 siblings, the proud father of two children and a leader of entrepreneurs.
When I asked ChatGPT āWho is an example of a quintessential entrepreneur I may know?ā it said āSee Simonson, Steve, from the Pacific Northwest.ā
When you meet him, he may come across as an āah shucksā type of lad, but donāt let that fool you. While he may be somewhat private, he is as savvy a businessman as there is.
Steve was a finalist in the prestigious Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award, and several of this companies have made the Inc. 500 and Internet Retailer Top 500 lists.
Heās been visiting and importing from China at serious scale since most readers of BDSN were in diapers, at one point overseeing 200 container shipments per month for his various companies. He is one of the top supply chain experts in the world.
He has exited for tens of millions and retired twice. The first retirement he went from working 120 hours per week to 80. The second time - last year, he cut back to 40 hours per week.
Steve is a strong believer in systems. He created his own robust software tool called Parsimony to embody his methodical approach to management where systems run the business and people run the systems.
He shares a lot of his knowledge for free on his Awesomers podcast series. Being around the energy on entrepreneurs is what drives him.
Steve's passion for entrepreneurship is encapsulated in this Zig Ziglar quote: āYou can have everything in life you want, if you will just help other people get what they want.ā
To that end, in 2018 he established The Empowery eCommerce Cooperative to unite the power of individual Internet Sellers so that each member can accomplish more.
You can even follow his continent hopping journey on social media. He often posts photos of his airplane saddles on Facebook. He knows the difference in business class seats between a Korean Air 747, a Delta A330 and an American 777-300.
You will be challenged to find a more driven and stand-up guy who really enjoys helping entrepreneurs.
Iām honored to call Steve an inspiration and a friend.

š·ļø BEYOND THE PRICE TAG ā BUYER PSYCHOLOGY
In advertising, understanding the distinction between transactional and relational shoppers is crucial.
Transactional shoppers are price-focused, seeking the best value for their immediate purchase without much concern for future interactions with the brand. They are self-reliant in research, enjoy the shopping process, and do not view time spent as a cost.
In contrast, relational shoppers view purchases as part of an ongoing relationship, prioritizing trust and expertise over price. They seek confidence in their choices, dislike the process of shopping and negotiating, and are likely to become repeat customers due to their loyalty to a brand they trust.
For transactional shoppers, emphasize competitive pricing, value, and product variety.
For relational shoppers, focus on building trust, providing expert advice, and highlighting the quality of service.
Transactional shoppers may generate more traffic due to their extensive search for the best deal, but relational shoppers often contribute more to sales and profits due to their higher average spending and loyalty.
Identify Your Target Audience: Determine whether your product or service is more suited to transactional or relational shoppers.
Customize Your Messaging: For transactional shoppers, highlight price, value, and selection. For relational shoppers, focus on trust, expertise, and quality of service.
Allocate Your Ad Budget Wisely: Consider investing more in targeting relational shoppers who, despite fewer visits, tend to spend more and contribute to higher profits.
Key points:
Transactional shoppers are volume drivers but not profit drivers.
Relational shoppers are less in number but are profit heroes.
Time spent by shoppers is a hidden cost for transactional but a considered cost for relational.
Ad dollars should be proportionate to the profit potential, not just traffic potential.
Every shopper has both transactional and relational momentsātailor your approach accordingly.

8-figure seller and former Billion Dollar Seller Summit speaker Aaron Cordovez posted a MASSIVE AMAZON HACK on Linkedin.
If you are brand registered, you need to check your benchmark conversion rates.
He says this is HUGE.
If your brand is not at the bare minimum at the āmedianā conversion rate for the category, you are fighting an uphill battle and will likely fail until this is fixed.
Aaron says until you address this, your PPC strategy doesnāt matter, your product quality will NOT save you.
Watch this step-by-step 90 second video he made to compare yourself to the minimum performance for your product.

š®š± AMAZON SELLERS - ISRAEL NEEDS YOUR HELP
A message from BDS Dream 100 member Tomer Rabinovich:
It's been a month since the massacre that took place in Israel on October 7th. Iām sure youāve all seen the news and understand we have soldiers fighting for their country, while many families had to leave their homes to avoid being attacked by rockets, which have been fired nonstop for the past month.
Weāve managed to put together a process where you could send us products youāre overstocked on or unsellable products to a warehouse in New Jersey. From there, Cubic will assist to air ship the products to Israel and Brown Stone will distribute them from there.
Weāve put together a list of products we got from the Israeli defense forces as well as what families are missing.
For the stock you send over to us, Brownstone will send you an invoice based on the current selling price of the goods (this is how donated stock works). This means that it will be tax deductible on your end.
As for me and my family, we are all safe and are currently outside of the country due to what's going on.
This is the least I can do to support my country.
Hereās the form to fill out if you can help.
š§³ TO TRAVEL IS TO LIVE
ā hereās looking at you kid
My āwhyā has led me to visit 94 countries and all 7 continents. I create my life and work around my why. Not my why around my business.
I hope to inspire you in your journey of business and life with photos, a short video I filmed, and a brief description of my time there.
Think you know Australia? Think again.
Iām currently on my third trip to Australia. I am speaking in Sydney at the Southern Seller Fest to about 300 Amazon sellers. Not one to waste time, I already re-stocked on TimTams (the white ones are my favorite).
A few years back, my brother and I spent a couple weeks in Australia. Culturally and environmentally, Australia is quite similar to the United States, except for a few quirks like driving on the left and unique wildlife.
The vastness of the country necessitated numerous internal flights, particularly since much of the interior is the sparsely populated Outback.
The adventure began at Uluru (Ayers Rock), a majestic sandstone monolith sacred to Indigenous Australians, though controversially climbed by tourists.
In the tropical northeast, we explored the Daintree Rainforest via hikes and a trip from Cairns to the Great Barrier Reef. An impromptu white water rafting experience on the Barron River was fun, especially as our guide playfully ensured some passengers took an unexpected dip.
That's me in the back in the blue shirt.
Melbourne's vibrant street art, music scene, and sports culture, including a rugby match, provided urban entertainment. A few hours outside the city on Phillip Island we had a magical evening with the Penguin Parade. Hundreds of Little Penguins (also known as Fairy or Blue Penguins) return to shore at dusk.
The Great Ocean Road offered coastal vistas reminiscent of California's Highway One, with the Twelve Apostles' limestone formations standing out as a highlight. Australian wildlife was in abundance, from Wallabies and Koalas to endangered Sea Lions and Tasmanian Devils.
Tasmania's rugged coastline and historical prisons provided a glimpse into the past, while the modern MONA museum in Hobart challenges visitors with unconventional art, including a digestive system-simulating machine.
The trip concluded with the urban experiences of Sydney, from the surf and cliffside trails of Bondi Beach to the iconic Sydney Opera House, a testament to architectural brilliance and cultural significance.
Australia is a mix of natural wonders, wildlife encounters, cultural experiences, and unexpected adventures, set against the backdrop of Australia's diverse landscapes and cities. Watch the video I filmed above for an overview.
